Seeking Table Talk Volunteers
Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton is looking for cheerful, compassionate volunteers to help bring back a beloved dining room tradition! Before COVID, volunteers would visit during meal times to help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for residents. These volunteers would offer a brief prayer, share the weather forecast, tell a lighthearted story, or introduce a fun conversation starter. Questions like "What was your favorite childhood toy?" or "Did you have a garden growing up?" often sparked wonderful conversations among residents and staff alike. These simple moments helped set the tone for enjoyable meals filled with laughter, connection, and meaningful conversation. It was especially beneficial in the evenings, when a calm, positive presence can help residents feel more relaxed and engaged.
We're seeking volunteers who are friendly, patient, and enjoy interacting with older adults. No special experience is required—just a warm smile, a kind heart, and a willingness to help create moments of joy. If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please contact Sheri Esau, Community Outreach Coordinator, at 316-836-4821 or volunteer@bluestem.org.
